FEATURED IN 8 GLOBAL FILM FESTIVALS & WINNER OF "BEST FIRST TIME DIRECTOR" (DEAN GILD) AND "BEST YOUNG ACTOR" (JORDIE RACE-COLDREY) AT THE ONIROS FILM AWARDS, ITALY.
A teenage boy battles with anxiety as it pervades his perception of reality. Whilst trying to suppress his mental illness, he finds himself in a dramatic standoff with his best friend. As he is plunged into a spiral of negativity and emotional pain, he must learn the importance of self acceptance and the life changing benefits of reaching out for professional help.
“As a 20-year-old male with a mental health journey of my own, I created this short film, as my first major film project, with the intention of spreading positive awareness of the importance of professional help, its positive outcomes, and to remove the negative stigma surrounding it. I hope to inspire a wide range of people who can see themselves within the film and relate it to their own personal experiences.”
- Dean Gild (Writer / Director)
The need for positive role models and inspiration throughout a young adult’s mental health journey is imperative to its continued success and positive growth. This short film is a form of entertainment, as well as a device and learning tool, to support people of all ages in accepting themselves and the help that is available to them. In My Head is a story of friendship, family relationship, personal development, and mental wellbeing, which is so relevant to the climate we currently live in.
